Crazy Powerful Go-Kart Lets You Re-Live Your Mario Kart Glory Days - nixonthiss1969
IT's tiny, it can come 20 miles per hour, and it'll make you look and tone corresponding Bowser in Mario Kart. What is it? It's Massachusetts Institute of Technology student Charles Guan's Chibikart! Charles built this ultimate go-kart in about 3 weeks (!) from scratch using his own design
Now, the downside is that the kart uses a bunch of unusual parts, including a "non on the market" lithium-ion barrage pack, an equivalent to which Charles estimates would cost between $250 and $400, and custom-modded in-hub brushless motors.
Charles registered the whole thing on his web log, and boy does the final device fly. Suss out this video:
Charles I also shows up in the comments for this Gizmodo article on the kart with an imposingly super set of golf links for understanding what he did and how to do IT yourself, so while it's not a solder-improving-a-kit up sorting of project it's as wel peradventur non as impossibly intimidating to replicate as it appears at first glint.
It's awesome to see hobbyist electric vehicles becoming more of a matter — the 21st-century like of my cousins' gas-powered go-kart — and IT's not amazing that there's a growing body of specialist knowledge around how to wring the most power out of the available components.
Nor is Chibikart the starting time much kart to come in of MIT–see for example tinykart (in-the-coke video! man that looks like entertaining) and MelonKart. Also, have a look at some electric kick-iceboat mods and one of Carolus Guan's premature projects, the LandBearShark, a tracked skateboard (!!!). Existence MIT students, there's some serious data-crunching going on as comfortably. Some of these devices are made-up for class projects, several just because — all are awesome.
With smart people like these on the case (and perchance you to a fault?), peak oil won't be so bad subsequently all.
